Champion breaks new ground with its new GM dexos1™ gen3 lubricants
Champion Lubricants has upgraded three of its passenger car engine oils to meet the latest specifications from General Motors (GM) - GM dexos1TM Gen3. These new upgrades improve performance in a number of important areas and are reaching the market at a crucial time as GM has recently put the mandatory transition in place.
- Champion launches a trio of engine oils for latest GM dexos1TM Gen3 specification
- Products are quick to market in line with GM’s mandated switch as of September
- New oils improve fuel efficiency and engine protection while reducing emissions
- Champion’s dexos1TM Gen2 oils to be phased out over the coming months
As OEMs look to improve the efficiency and performance of their vehicles, GM has introduced a new engine oil specification dexos1 TM Gen3 that meets the newest hardware performance requirements for GM vehicles. Compared to dexos1TM Gen2, this new specification has significant advantages, including reduced turbocharger deposits, improved piston cleanliness, and pre-ignition protection with a focus on fuel economy benefits and emission reductions.
Thanks to the efforts of Champion’s passionate R&D team, the brand has rapidly brought three lubricants to market that meet these rigorous new requirements. The enhanced range includes two officially approved products, CHAMPION ECO FLOW 0W20 SP/RC D1-3 and CHAMPION ECO FLOW 5W30 SP/RC D1-3. It also includes one product that meets the specification, CHAMPION ECO FLOW 5W20 SP/RC D1-3.
All three products are backward compatible with former Dexos1 specifications and a perfect fit for the latest hybrid vehicles, in compliance with ILSAC GF-6 A.
These ground-breaking new engine oils build upon the Gen2 specifications to offer dependable and complete lubrication solutions. The low viscosity of these oils provides improved fuel efficiency whilst adherence to API SP/RC means that they provide excellent protection against low-speed pre-ignition for longer engine lifespans, improved fuel economy and less harmful emissions.
