The CHAMPION OEM SPECIFIC 5W30 C3 LL III is a significant upgrade of the existing CHAMPION OEM SPECIFIC 5W30 LL III. The improved 5W30 C3 LL III is designed specifically for VAG gasoline and diesel engines and meets Euro 4, 5 and 6 emission requirements.
So, what have the R&D engineers at Champion come up with? Well, the improvements compared to the previous CHAMPION OEM SPECIFIC 5W30 LL III come from the new MB 229.52 (official approval) and upgraded API SP specifications. These two specifications demand better piston cleanliness, fuel economy, wear protection and corrosion prevention, which are much needed when serving modern engines.
With the existing ACEA C3, VW 504.00/507.00 (official approval) and BMW LONGLIFE-04 (official approval in request) specifications still coupled to the 5W30 C3 LL III, this product has a lot more up its sleeve.
Starting with the viscosity. Our 5W30 C3 LL III has a low viscosity to minimize the amount of energy required by the engine to move the lubricant throughout its components. This is important because it helps to reduce fuel consumption, but it also comes with a catch – is the engine still well lubricated?
Yes, of course! Our engineers use high performing additives to ensure that friction is reduced and oil drain intervals are extended to keep the vehicle on the road for longer.
When it comes to emissions, this new oil helps to keep after-treatment devices like GPFs and DPFs healthy by reducing the content of sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur (SAPS) in exhaust gases. This means that our mid SAPS oil helps emit less harmful emissions and particulates.
A common problem with long-life oils is that they can break down or begin to cause corrosion within the engine. Champion’s engineers ensured that 5W30 C3 LL III had higher oxidative stability to further increase its lifecycle while also improving the oils anti-corrosion properties for additional peace-of-mind.
One of the most important roles of an engine lubricant is to protect internal components and increase overall engine lifespan. This formulation is not only able to help mitigate low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI), but it also protects against wear by helping to eliminate the harmful formation of deposits and sludge within the engine.
